Gratitude
November arrives on Monday and I’m giving thanks already. I’m grateful for continued good health, my Mother’s long life, my two sons, extended family and friends. I’m also grateful for the time I have to make and exhibit artwork and write poetry. And I’m so very grateful for all of you who follow and support these creative endeavors!
New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards
So pleased both of my books published in 2020, House of Cards: The Whole Deck and Letters to the Deceased and Other Missives, were finalists for the New Mexico-Arizona Book Awards. Also, happy that many of the books I contributed to as an graphic designer and illustrator were also finalists and award winners.
D’Art Center’s Dynamic Exhibition
My trip there and back again to Norfolk, Virginia, was smooth. The gallery is beautiful and I was honored to received an Honorable Mention for the work-on-paper Georgia: On My Mind. The show runs through November 7th.
Endangered Online!
I entered Alaska: Our Vanishing Future into the 2021 ENDANGERED Fine Art & Photography Contest and it was chosen to be included in the Endangered Online! exhibit that runs from November 1 to December 31. This contest and exhibition aim to encourage artists and photographers to focus their skill and creativity on the issues facing endangered species and habitats while raising funds to support the Center for Great Apes, a sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees in need of lifetime care.
