March Madness 2024

I’m sitting in a hotel in Wichita, halfway back from visiting the Twin Cities in Minnesota, contemplating why March is associated with madness. Even before basketball and Alice in Wonderland, people described as mad as a March hare. March is also known for unpredictable weather, the Spring equinox (occurring on March 19th this year) and Spring Fever.

My March Madness begins on Friday, March 1, with  receptions at two Albuquerque galleries exhibiting one or two of my small works—the Lunar New Year Dragon show at The Next Best Thing to Being There and the Women’s Work show at Ghostwolf Gallery.

In Santa Fe a couple small paintings (and prints) will be shown at the Art Mozaik gallery for Art Unleashed! Then on Saturday, March 2, with the release of Deborah Coy’s book of poetry, Super Crone, in Placitas at Poetry Playhouse—Poetry Playhouse Publications is one of the creative endeavors I have assisted with graphic design expertise for many years.

Meanwhile the What’s Love Got To Do With It? show continues at the 3017 Gallery beneath Artisans ABQ continues through March 4th.

Then the following week on Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, at Gobble This an amazing restaurant that is celebrating their new deck featuring the artwork of Christian Gallegos and me during two days of great food. The new deck was built by Christian and Nestor, the owner, and coincidentally Christian’s birthday is on March 10.

Finally March wraps up with my eldest son’s 32nd birthday—and since he was was born on my 35th birthday—it feels like March Madness indeed!

With Love, Denise
