Encantados: Amazonian river dolphins who are frequent characters in indiginous South American mythology. Encantados are shape shifters. In their dolphin form, they are believed to control storms. In their human form, they are believed to seduce humans, even kidnapping and transforming them into encantados. The encantado legends are used to keep children from going too close to the river.
