Description

An 11-string oud is a Middle Eastern, pear-shaped, fretless stringed instrument (a chordophone). It typically has 11 strings, though some ouds may have more or fewer. The 11 strings are grouped into five courses, with each course having two strings tuned to the same note, plus one single string. This 11-string configuration is common, particularly in Arabic oud variations.
